Speaking on behalf of the group, the national coordinator, Yusuf Kanhu, urged Governor Uba Sani to ensure a fair representation of both Christians and Muslims from Southern Kaduna in governmental affairs.
The group highlighted that over the past eight years, the Southern Kaduna region has faced considerable marginalization, particularly in the political and religious spheres, with the situation intensifying since the ascent of the APC party.
Under the previous administration of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, a significant disparity in political appointments and campaigns emerged, resulting in an uneven representation of the region.
The introduction of a Muslim-Muslim ticket exacerbated this division, relegating Christians and Muslims from Southern Kaduna to deputy positions or roles with reduced influence.
In light of this, the group called upon the Kaduna State government to address the concerns raised by the Southern region promptly and to take necessary actions to rectify the ongoing marginalization.
The group’s demands encompass fair representation in governance, the just allocation of resources, and enhanced security measures in Southern Kaduna.
The group also extended its call to the federal government and all compassionate Nigerians to join in their pursuit of justice, equality, and progress.
They emphasized the potential for creating a Kaduna State that genuinely values and harnesses the diversity and strengths of its entire populace.
Furthermore, the group stressed the importance of distributing ministerial appointments in the South equitably. In cases where a Christian ministerial appointment might not be feasible, they suggested the consideration of Dr. Abdulmalik Durunguwa, an esteemed figure from Southern Kaduna, for the appointment.
