In the EDO Local Government elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured a significant win in Etsako West LGA, the stronghold of Deputy State Governor, Philip Shaibu. CONTINUE READING
The results are as follows:
- APC garnered 8,653 votes
- PDP trailed with 4,656 votes
- Labour Party managed to get 1,268 votes
It’s important to note that the election took place amidst reports from many Edolites who raised concerns about alleged massive rigging, particularly by the dominant Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
This loss at the local government level is seen as a further indication that Deputy Governor Shaibu seems to be losing his grip on Edo North and, by extension, Edo State. It’s a troubling sign for the Deputy Governor, especially recalling his previous losses – from his polling unit during the presidential election to the entire local government during the Edo House of Assembly elections.
