United Nations Commits To Partnering With Borno State And NEDC For IDP Resettlement And Challenges Mitigation

Mr. Piper explained that the purpose of the visit was for the United Nations to gain insights into how the state and NEDC have managed the humanitarian crisis and explore avenues for supporting Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s commitment to the resettlement and reintegration of citizens who were primarily displaced by insurgency in 2011.
He stressed that addressing displacement is a long-term endeavor that necessitates substantial investment in infrastructure, functioning healthcare facilities, the return of displaced individuals to schools, and the presence of teachers in classrooms. Mr.
Piper commended NEDC’s long-term development initiatives, describing it as a key instrument for addressing the challenges posed by displacement in the region.
