Governor Uzodinma is concerned that Ugochinyere’s leadership of this influential House committee has bolstered the status of the opposition figure.
According to sources, Governor Uzodinma attempted to persuade Speaker Abbas to reconsider the appointment, but his request was met with resistance.
It is now anticipated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will intervene in the ongoing dispute between Speaker Abbas and the governor once he returns from his overseas trip.
An anonymous source revealed, “The governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, are facing a significant conflict, which has been brought to the attention of the Presidency.
The governor is dissatisfied with Mr. Speaker’s decision to appoint a contentious politician from their state, Ugochinyere, as the chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum (Downstream).”
