This action is in line with the President’s authority as defined in Section 3(6) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, and aligns with the Renewed Hope mandate to reform key institutions and bolster Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts.

The newly appointed individuals for ICPC include Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu as the Commission’s Secretary. The statement was issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

The appointment of the new chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, will undergo Senate confirmation, as the outgoing chairman has been granted permission to proceed on pre-end of tenure leave beginning on November 4, 2023, before his term officially concludes on February 3, 2024. In contrast, the position of the Secretary to the Commission does not require Senate confirmation, and therefore, Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu’s appointment takes immediate effect as per the President’s directive.

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria-designate with a doctorate degree in law, has previously implemented comprehensive reforms as the Attorney General of Jigawa State. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, a lawyer with over 30 years of experience, has served in various capacities in the public sector, including being a member of the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission and the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council.

The President urged the new ICPC management team to maintain the highest standards as they fulfill their responsibilities impartially and objectively, addressing all matters before them without any bias.
