Speaking at the Government College, Ibadan, where he inaugurated numerous projects carried out by the school’s alumni, the governor emphasized the state government’s commitment to supporting the association of old students to enhance educational standards and restore the school’s former glory.
Makinde expressed gratitude to the old boys’ association for their contributions and acknowledged that the government alone cannot address all the challenges in the education sector.
He urged individuals of goodwill, alumni associations, and others to collaborate with the government to transform the sector.
The governor pointed out that most of the projects undertaken by the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA) were not solely for the benefit of their own children or immediate families but for the future generations of students attending the school.
As a result, he encouraged other alumni associations not to forget their alma maters and to contribute to the growth of their institutions and the state’s education through various projects, supplementing the government’s efforts.
Makinde stated, “I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association.”
