The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese and Convener of the National Peace Committee, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, has criticized Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, calling him a poor representation of Nigerian youths. Bishop Kukah voiced his concerns about Governor Bello’s performance, especially in light of the ongoing violence in Kogi State ahead of the November 11 governorship election. CONTINUE READING
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV Sunrise Daily Programme, Bishop Kukah lamented that Governor Bello, who took office in 2015, prided himself on being the youngest governor and a symbol of what young people could achieve when given an opportunity. However, he expressed disappointment in Bello’s tenure as governor.

Bishop Kukah also called for peace amid the conflict between the labor movement leadership and the Imo state government, emphasizing the importance of peaceful elections. He urged organized labor and other stakeholders to prioritize the common good and seek peaceful resolutions to their conflicts.
