The court rejected the appeal filed by Kennedy Njoku, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), deeming it without merit.
The State House of Assembly election petition tribunal in Umuahia had earlier ruled in favor of Iheanacho, prompting Njoku to escalate the matter to the Appeal Court.
Njoku contended that the election, which secured the YPP legislator’s position, did not comply with the Electoral Act, among other grievances.
In its judgment, the Appeal Court declared that the PDP candidate’s appeal lacked merit and subsequently dismissed it.
Likewise, the Court of Appeal in Lagos upheld the triumph of Mr. Rowland Chinwendu as the duly elected representative for Isiala Ngwa South constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
The appeal brought by Mr. Dannie Ubani, the Labour Party candidate in the March 18 House of Assembly polls, was dismissed by the Appeal Court.
The Court maintained that the appeals put forth by the LP candidate were devoid of merit, as he failed to substantiate his claims that Chinwendu’s election did not adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act.
