The Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta, presided over by Justice Abiodun Akinyemi, has initiated proceedings for the Federal Government’s case against Ladi Adebutu, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18, 2023 Elections. Adebutu faces charges related to money laundering and vote-buying during the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections in the state.

During the court session, five suspects were present, while Adebutu and four others were reported to be at large. Goddy Uche SAN, representing Adebutu, claimed that the accused has been on a “medical vacation” since April 2023. Chief Rotimi Jacobs SAN appeared on behalf of the prosecution.

Exhibits presented and accepted included fifty-two Debt ATM cards under the name Dame Caroline Adebutu Foundation, a PDP polling agent tag, and a motorcycle used by four suspects on the day of their arrest. Two witnesses, including a POS operator claiming commission on the debit card transactions, were cross-examined by INEC.

Hearing in the case is scheduled to continue tomorrow as agreed by both parties.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Source: Bushradiogist
