Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has stated that the state will require a budget size of at least N7 trillion in the fiscal year 2024 to address the pressing needs of infrastructure and essential amenities. Despite the global business challenges, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized his administration’s commitment to facilitating a conducive business environment in the state. Notable attendees at the event included John Momoh, Chairman of Channels Television; Ben Murray-Bruce, Managing Director and Chairman of Silverbird Television; representatives from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN); heads of various agencies, parastatals, and foreign missions.
Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the resource demands from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), highlighting that the identified needs for infrastructure and basic amenities would require a budget of N7 trillion. Although the proposed budget for 2024 stands at over N2 trillion, the governor acknowledged the significant shortfall in revenue. He stressed the importance of addressing challenges, such as inflation rates, to implement effective policies and utilize modern technology for infrastructure development.
Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperative, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, affirmed the critical role of the corporate assembly as a platform for public-private sector engagement, fostering discussions vital to the industrial and commercial growth of Lagos State.
