Of the seven flats, three were burnt, while the two shops were completely razed, leading to the destruction of drugs, furniture, assorted drinks, and important documents. Hassan Adekunle, the Head of Media and Publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and praised the efficient efforts of state firefighters in minimizing the overall damage.

Adekunle disclosed that the fire’s origin was linked to a power surge in the area. Despite the significant losses, the firefighters managed to save other rooms in the building along with numerous valuable possessions, bringing the total estimated property saved to N47.4 million.

Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the Director of Kwara State Fire Service, emphasized the importance of responsible electrical appliance usage. He urged citizens to cultivate the habit of turning off their devices, especially before bedtime, to prevent fire incidents in homes and offices, thereby significantly reducing the risk of such disasters.
