The defectors, led by prominent figures such as Chidiebere Uguru, former PDP youth leader in the community, and Pastor Christian Nwokpoku, officially joined the APC during a Christmas day ceremony. The event was organized by the state Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Business Development, Chief Oguzor Offia Nwali. Notable APC leaders present included Chief Peter Nworie, the APC zonal Chairman for Ebonyi Central, and Maduabuchi Nwafor, the Amaeka Ward Chairman of the party.

During the event, Commissioner Nwali assured the defectors of a level playing ground within the APC and commended them for their decision to join the party. He emphasized the inclusive nature of the APC, expressing the importance of unity and collaboration to move the state forward under the leadership of Governor Francis Nwifuru.

Nwali highlighted the positive changes brought about by Governor Nwifuru’s administration, including the payment of 25 years’ retirement benefits to retirees and the empowerment of hawkers in various cities with substantial funds. He praised the governor’s transformative governance, urging the community to rally behind the government’s agenda for unity and progress.

Chief Peter Nworie, the APC Zonal Chairman for Ebonyi Central, declared that the mass defection marked the end of opposition in the community. He encouraged the defectors to respect party leaders, assuring them of an inclusive environment without discrimination.

Key defectors, Chidiebere Uguru and Pastor Christian Nwokpoku, explained that their decision to join the APC was driven by Governor Francis Nwifuru’s leadership style. They lauded the governor for prioritizing the interests of the community, including appointments of sons and daughters to positions of authority and empowerment initiatives benefiting many indigenes.

Uguru emphasized the commitment of the defectors to the APC, stating that they were now devoted members of the party, signaling the end of opposition in Amaeka community. He highlighted the positive contributions of the APC to the state and expressed their determination to align with a party that promotes development, empowerment, and inclusivity.
