The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) urges the Federal Government to ensure the full implementation of the 2024 budget allocation for the education sector, as highlighted by Mr. Akinteye Afeez, the Senate President of NANS. Afeez attributed the longstanding challenges faced by the education sector, including its failure to meet global funding benchmarks, to inadequate monitoring and poor implementation. He noted that, based on the 2024 budget breakdown for the sector, only 8.8% has been allocated to education. While acknowledging the allocation as insufficient, Afeez expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for incorporating a student loan, believing it would significantly aid students in covering their tuition expenses.
