Sanwo-Olu had reportedly directed the arrest of the soldier and motorcyclists earlier in the week, as seen in the video ordering his personnel to apprehend one of the motorcyclists who claimed to be a soldier.

The protesting soldier argues that the governor lacks the authority to arrest a soldier, especially in proximity to the military barracks. He asserts that soldiers are accountable to their senior officers, not state governors, emphasizing that no one has the right to arrest a soldier near their barracks.

Expressing his displeasure, the soldier questions the governor’s actions, especially in the context of Lagos being a peaceful state. He contrasts this with the situation in the North East, where he claims such an incident would not occur. The soldier accuses the governor of acting like a “tout” and raises concerns about the potential risks of pursuing civilians and creating disturbances.

The soldier maintains that no one, including the governor, has the power to slap or arrest a soldier without due authority from military police or relevant officers. He challenges the governor’s actions and questions the justification for arresting someone for a traffic violation, particularly when it might have been a necessary shortcut.

The soldier concludes by stating that Lagos has been experiencing an unusual level of peace and questions the governor’s audacity in arresting a soldier for a minor offense. The video sheds light on the tensions between the military and civilian authorities in the context of law enforcement actions on traffic violations.
