In a welcome move, the Federal Government has announced an extension of the free train ride services for commuters. Initially set to conclude on Thursday, January 4, 2024, the extension now allows passengers to enjoy free train rides until Sunday, January 7, 2024.

The decision to offer free train rides was made in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu and was officially initiated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation on Thursday, December 21, 2023. This relief measure was introduced alongside a 50% waiver on interstate round transport fares, demonstrating the government’s commitment to alleviating the financial burden on citizens, particularly during the festive season.

The extension of the free train rides provides additional respite for those traveling during this period, allowing them to experience the convenience and savings brought about by this thoughtful gesture.

As the extension brings relief to many, the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting citizens during the Yuletide season is evident. The continued provision of free train rides aligns with the government’s dedication to easing the financial strain on Nigerians and fostering a more accessible and affordable transportation system.
