In response to the provocative statement, a mob sought retaliation and attempted to locate and harm Abubakar. However, he managed to escape, and in their frustration, the mob resorted to burning his house and car in Babaruga on the night of January 30.

As of now, Abubakar’s current whereabouts remain unknown. The Christian Association of Nigeria is actively collaborating with authorities and plans to meet with the Emir of Katsina to ensure Abubakar’s safety when he reappears.

Christian leaders within the state are appealing for calm and understanding amid the escalating tension. Venerable Muyiwa Segun, the Vice Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Katsina, condemned any form of violence or disrespect towards other religions. Segun emphasized the importance of respecting each other’s religious beliefs, stating, “Christians don’t have any business abusing other people’s religion. That is not how to do evangelism.”

Furthermore, Segun confirmed that CAN is actively engaged with security officials and religious leaders to collaborate in maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of the community. The incident highlights the need for dialogue and tolerance between religious communities to foster a harmonious coexistence.
