FG Responds To Peter Obi Accepting Grains From Ukraine Doesn’t Reflect Nigeria’s Failure....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Federal government has asserted that accepting grains from Ukraine does not indicate Nigeria’s status as a failed country. Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine donated 25,000 tons of wheat to Nigeria to address the food crisis affecting over 1.3 million people in northeast Nigeria.

In response to this development, former governor Peter Obi released a statement on Monday, commending Ukraine’s generosity but expressing concern over Nigeria’s reliance on foreign aid. Obi highlighted the contrast between a country engaged in a war for survival, like Ukraine with Russia, providing assistance, and Nigeria, officially at peace, depending on external support due to poor leadership.

Countering Obi’s remarks, the Minister of Information and National Orientation emphasized that receiving food aid from Ukraine does not categorize Nigeria as a failed state. Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, March 6, the Minister pointed out that Egypt, a nation that receives a significant portion of its grains from Ukraine, is not considered a failed state.

He argued that facing challenges at the moment does not undermine Nigeria’s overall status, stating that countries often depend on each other for various resources, and accepting grains from Ukraine is a normal practice in international relations.
