According to Onokpasa, the Coastal Highway Project exemplifies the visionary leadership displayed by President Bola Tinubu, who, during his tenure as the governor of Lagos State, conceptualized and implemented the successful Lekki Free Trade Zone. The group vehemently criticized Adebanjo and his associates for what they deemed as shallow and uninformed reasoning, accusing them of neglecting the glaring infrastructural deficiencies in Nigeria.
The group expressed amusement at the audacity of the critics, particularly in light of the substantial infrastructural deficit facing the country. Onokpasa highlighted the inherent opportunities in Tourism and Blue Economy that the Coastal Highway Project presents, dismissing the characterization of the initiative as ‘unproductive and wasteful’ by Adebanjo’s group as laughable.
In a pointed retort, Onokpasa singled out Gboyega Adejumo, Prince Faloke, and Pa Ayo Adebanjo, cautioning them against conflating the distinct economic purposes of the East-West Road and the Coastal Highway Project. The group’s statement sought to counter the allegations made by Adebanjo and reinforce the significance of the Coastal Highway Project in addressing Nigeria’s infrastructural challenges and fostering economic growth.
