Gbenga Alade Confirmed By Senate To Lead AMCON

The Senate officially ratified the appointment of Gbenga Alade as the Managing Director of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) during its session on Tuesday.

Additionally, the Senate confirmed the appointments of Adeshola Lamidi, Lucky Adaghe, and Aminu Mukthar as Executive Directors of AMCON.

The decision by the Red Chamber came following the endorsement of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other financial institutions, which thoroughly vetted the nominees. Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, the Committee’s Chairman, presented the report affirming their suitability for the roles.

These confirmations stem from their nominations by President Bola Tinubu, who sought the Senate’s approval for their appointments.

In another development, the Senate reacted strongly to the tragic incident involving the killing of 16 Nigerian Army personnel during a peacekeeping mission to the Okuama Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. The Senate termed the attack barbaric and expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased.

The Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, condemned the ambush and endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to apprehend the culprits. Furthermore, the Senate urged Nigerians to extend full cooperation, prayers, and support to the affected soldiers.
