The Kano State Fire Service has reported that a fire outbreak destroyed 37 shops in the Zawaciki area of Kumbotso Local Government, Kano State.

According to Saminu Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the service, the fire broke out at 01:37 am on Wednesday. “Our personnel were promptly mobilized to the scene at about 01:47 a.m., and the fire was extinguished to prevent it from spreading to other shops,” Abdullahi mentioned.

He added that the 37 affected shops were located on the ground level of a multi-purpose structure, with three additional shops suffering minor damage from the fire. Abdullahi clarified that there were no fatalities, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

In a similar incident, millions of Naira worth of goods were lost on Wednesday, March 20, due to an early morning fire that engulfed shops in the Nnamdi Azikwe and Docemo areas of Idumota Market in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFS) confirmed the incident in a statement on its official handle, mentioning that firefighting personnel had been dispatched to the scene to contain the situation.
