Omisore shared this revelation during an interview with Channels Television on Friday.
The former Osun State deputy governor confirmed that the then APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, was in favor of the North retaining the Presidency after the eight-year tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari, who hails from the North-West.
“In politics, everyone has their own agendas,” Omisore stated. “We came from different geopolitical zones to the National Working Committee (NWC) at that time, representing various interests.”
He explained, “As the most senior party member from the South-West, my mandate was to secure the Presidency for our region. Similarly, someone from the South-South had their own mandate to deliver the Presidency for their zone.”
“My objective was clear, and I achieved it. The methods I employed are between me and God. If others tried to be clever but I outmaneuvered them, then to God be the glory. My mission was to deliver the South-West Presidency, and we have achieved that today.”
Despite Adamu supporting a different candidate, Omisore highlighted that the NWC facilitated a convention “where democracy was upheld.”
“We voted, everyone had a choice, and it was a transparent process. When there is a transparent primary, there are no grievances; it’s only when people feel cheated that they seek legal recourse,” he concluded
