Niger Announces Fresh Pledge After Meeting With Niger Republic Junta And Security Chiefs

One of the hostages from Kuchi was released with the task of raising a ransom of ₦60 million for his wife and four children still in captivity. Sources revealed that the affected communities attempted negotiations, initially offering ₦60,000 per victim, which was rejected. They then increased the amount to ₦100,000, which the terrorists also declined, arguing that it was insufficient compared to their expenses for weapons and ammunition.

The community is under immense pressure to meet the demands, while authorities have yet to respond to the escalating terror in Niger State. There has been no government intervention or security presence in the community since the abductions started three weeks ago, leaving the residents vulnerable and desperate.
