Dimkpa, who served as an NDDC board member representing the state, urged Okocha, a prominent party leader in the state, to concentrate on contributing to the renewed hopes and efforts of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, rather than causing distractions for the government.
In a statement released in Port Harcourt by his media aide, Dae Stephen Degbara, Dimkpa responded to comments attributed to Okocha during a visit to the APC national chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, in Abuja.
During the visit, Okocha accused Dimkpa of participating in a meeting where former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, allegedly issued a directive for Rivers APC members to vote for the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the last presidential election.
Dimkpa’s statement characterized Okocha’s claims as a self-serving attempt to undermine the commendable objectives of the APC national leadership in relation to the state chapter of the party.
The statement further emphasized that, as a founding member of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in Rivers State, Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa had more to gain from a potential presidency led by Asiwaju Tinubu than Mr.
Okocha could possibly comprehend. Therefore, Dimkpa remained steadfast in his commitment to working tirelessly for the electoral victory of the President in Rivers State.
