In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal brought forth by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. This definitive ruling solidifies President Tinubu’s position as the rightfully elected leader following the Presidential election held on February 25, 2023.

In response to the ruling, Senator Murray-Bruce took a conciliatory tone, emphasizing national unity and party cohesion. In his statement, the ex-senator said, “The Supreme Court has now ruled on the appeal brought by my party and its Presidential candidate. I do not comment on the rightness or wrongness of the judgment, except to state that as a law-abiding and patriotic citizen of Nigeria, I believe the Supreme Court is final. Therefore, this judgment should be accepted by all Nigerians, marking the end of disputes about the 2023 Presidential election.” CONTINUE READING

He further appealed to the Peoples Democratic Party and its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, urging them to accept the judgment and move on. He congratulated President Bola Tinubu and expressed hope for a united future for the country.

He added, “To the Peoples Democratic Party, let’s learn from the divisions that cost us this election. If a united opposition couldn’t defeat the All Progressives Congress in 2019, our divisions in 2022-2023 showed a lack of judgment. It’s time for better decisions for the future.”

Closing his statement, Senator Murray-Bruce prayed, “May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
