Abure Diverted Campaign Funds To Wife, Brother, And Staff Accounts – Opara Claims

Former National Treasurer of the Labour Party, Oluchi Opara, has accused factional chairman Julius Abure of financial misconduct, including forging the signature of the party’s late chairman, A.A. Salam, to withdraw funds and transfer money to his family, staff, and personal company accounts.

Opara claims that when Abure took over as chairman following Salam’s death, the party’s funds were depleted within two months. She insists that Labour Party’s resurgence came through its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and that Abure’s attempts to discredit Obi are unjustified, as Obi revived the party.

In an interview with News Central, Opara expressed frustration that Abure has not addressed the allegations of embezzlement and mismanagement. She called for an independent audit of the party’s accounts, accusing Abure of diverting attention from the accusations against him by targeting Peter Obi. Opara emphasized that the Labour Party had a campaign fund account, contrary to Abure’s claims.

Opara also alleged that Abure used fraudulent means to siphon money, transferring funds to family members and even using staff accounts to hide the transactions. She challenged Abure to reactivate the party’s account for a transparent audit, allowing Nigerians to see how funds were withdrawn after Salam’s death.

In conclusion, Opara urged Abure to stop deflecting blame and address the serious accusations against him.
