The Senate resumed the screening process with the privilege of “take a bow and go,” but Edun faced in-depth scrutiny, particularly on his plans to improve Nigeria’s monetary policy if appointed as a minister.

Among the questions asked during the screening were inquiries about Edun’s strategy to regulate the current foreign exchange and his plans to separate the office of the Attorney General of the Federation from station attorneys to ensure a proper and efficient accounting process.

In response to the lawmakers’ queries, Edun emphasized the importance of supporting President Tinubu’s efforts to protect the poor amid the country’s economic challenges, stating that the nation needs to be steered in the right direction.

Additionally, the ministerial nominee was asked about his plans to help the federal government distribute palliatives to Nigerians, especially those without bank accounts, to mitigate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.

Edun’s professional background includes experience in merchant banking, corporate finance, economics, and international finance at both national and international levels.

He currently serves as the Chair of ChapelHillDenham Group, a leading investment bank in Lagos. Previously, he held the position of executive director at Lagos merchant bank, Investment Banking & Trust Company Limited (now Stanbic IBTC).

Beyond his financial expertise, Edun is involved in various not-for-profit organizations, such as the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame, the Livewell Initiative, and Sisters Unite for Children, all focused on health advocacy and helping vulnerable communities in Lagos. He is also the president of Repton, an amateur boxing club based in London’s East End.
