Adesina Alleges Collaboration Between Saraki, Dogara, And Ekweremadu To Take Control Of NASS Leadership
Femi Adesina, the former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has revealed that in 2015, former Senate President Bukola Saraki hatched a plan to seize control of the National Assembly. According to Adesina, Saraki worked alongside lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to secure the necessary support, as a considerable number of senators from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were not aligned with his agenda.
These revelations were made in Adesina’s book titled “Working with Buhari: Reflections Of A Special Adviser, Media And Publicity (2015 – 2023).” Despite the unawareness of the party leadership, Adesina claims that Saraki and Dogara strategically planned to take over the leadership of the National Assembly.
Adesina goes on to explain that during the preparations for a meeting with APC legislators at the President’s residence in Aso Drive, it was discovered on television that the Senate had already convened, and the election was in progress. The constitutionally required number had allegedly been reached through the support of renegade APC members and the PDP.
While disclosing these details, Adesina also conveyed that President Buhari was displeased with the emergence of Saraki and Dogara as leaders of the National Assembly. The events described shed light on the political maneuvering and alliances that took place behind the scenes during this crucial period in Nigerian politics.
