After 9 Years, Landlord Refuses Rent And Gives Neighbour Shocking Property Advice

A Nigerian man has shared the heartwarming story of a landlord who refused to collect his neighbour’s rent after the tenant had spent nine years living in the same compound.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the man revealed in a post on X that his neighbour’s tenancy expired the previous month, prompting him to approach the landlord with plans to pay for another year.

However, instead of accepting the rent, the landlord reportedly asked the neighbour what had made him remain comfortable in the compound for such a long period.

The neighbour explained that the peace of mind he enjoyed while living there was one of the major reasons he had stayed for so long.

The landlord then asked whether the tenant had been able to acquire any land during the nine years. The neighbour admitted that he had not yet bought any property but was working towards achieving the goal.

The landlord subsequently advised him to redirect the money meant for another year’s rent towards purchasing land, encouraging him to take a major step towards becoming a property owner.

“Don’t work towards it. Use this rent for the tenth year to buy the land. Then come and show me the receipt and documents,” the landlord reportedly told him.

According to the narrator, the neighbour followed the advice and successfully purchased his first piece of land the following day.

The story has attracted attention online, with many people praising the landlord for looking beyond collecting rent and encouraging his tenant to invest in his long-term goal of owning property.
