Aide Clarifies: Wike Free To Enter Presidential Villa Amid PM’s VisitLere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vehemently denied claims that his boss was barred from the Presidential Villa. Olayinka’s statement comes in response to a report by US-based journalist Jackson Ude, who alleged that Wike was intoxicated when he greeted Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Saturday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Olayinka clarified that Wike had followed the President’s instructions, meeting the Indian Prime Minister at the airport and subsequently escorting him to his hotel that evening. On Sunday morning, Olayinka added, Wike performed his official duties by accompanying Modi to the Presidential Villa.
Referring to Ude’s claims as falsehoods, Olayinka dismissed the journalist as a “liar,” stating, “Jackson Ude, the liar on his podium of lies again!” He also addressed the journalist’s accusation that Wike had been barred from the Villa, calling it a fabrication.
Olayinka pointed out that, after Ude’s allegations about Wike’s behavior at the airport, the journalist attempted to spin another story, questioning why Indian security personnel stopped Wike from entering Modi’s hotel suite. Olayinka responded by reiterating that Wike had led the Prime Minister from the airport to his hotel and then to the Presidential Villa the following morning, debunking Ude’s narrative.
The aide further stated that while they typically ignore Ude’s provocations, it was necessary to correct the record, given the journalist’s reputation for spreading false information for personal gain. “For us who know his antecedents, we will not dignify him henceforth,” Olayinka concluded.
