Governor Akeredolu, who had been battling a prolonged illness, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Osinbajo, along with his wife Dolly, extended heartfelt sympathies to Her Excellency Betty Akeredolu, the late governor’s children, family, friends, associates, and the people of Ondo State.

In his tribute, Osinbajo highlighted Akeredolu’s admirable qualities, describing him as bold, courageous, forthright, fair-minded, kind, and God-fearing. He emphasized Akeredolu’s unwavering belief in democracy, justice, and the rule of law, noting the late governor’s dedication to the welfare, security, and economic progress of the people of Ondo State.

The former Vice President concluded the message with a prayer for divine comfort for the Akeredolu family and the people of Ondo State, expressing a heartfelt “Sun re o Aketi Baba!!” in honor of the departed governor.
