Akpabio FIRES UP Oyebamiji: “Osun Should Be Better Than What I Have Seen
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed concern over the condition of roads across Osun State, saying the state deserves better infrastructure.
Akpabio made the remarks while speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally in Osogbo, the state capital.
He called on the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to ensure that state resources are properly managed and channelled toward development if he wins Saturday’s election.
According to the Senate President, Osun receives sufficient allocations from the Federal Government and should therefore have better infrastructure than what is currently on the ground.
Akpabio also urged Oyebamiji to work closely with the Federal Government if elected, saying such cooperation would help ensure that residents of Osun benefit from the dividends of democracy.
He said the state government should be able to execute meaningful projects without relying heavily on borrowing, given the funds available to it.
Expressing his disappointment with the condition of the roads, Akpabio said, “No state government is borrowing money for projects; enough money is coming to the state, and Osun should be better than what I have seen. On the road between Ibadan and here, even the potholes are not fixed.”
Addressing Oyebamiji, whom he referred to as AMBO, Akpabio urged him to hit the ground running if elected and begin implementing his development agenda immediately after assuming office.
He said, “Once you are elected on Saturday and sworn in, you must immediately begin the progressive movement; you must transform Osun State; you must show the people that development is part and parcel of politics.”
Akpabio stressed that Nigerians want to see tangible improvements in their lives rather than political rhetoric or social media campaigns.
He further called on Oyebamiji to prioritise the welfare of Osun residents, improve infrastructure and work with the Federal Government to advance development across the state.
He concluded by praying for divine guidance for Oyebamiji as he seeks to manage the state’s resources and contribute to broader efforts to transform Nigeria.
