The statement, titled “Re- Governor Umo Éno, Akwa Ibom PDP celebrate Atiku’s efforts for exposing Tinubu’s alleged fake certificate,” was released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Borono Bassey, on Wednesday.

In the statement, it was emphasized, “The Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has been made aware of a clearly fabricated news item circulating on social media.

This item alleges that our party, as well as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, Pastor Umo Eno, were clandestinely celebrating the efforts of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in revealing President Tinubu’s purportedly forged certificate.”

The party urged responsible Nigerians to dismiss this malicious attempt to involve the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and the state chapter of the PDP in a matter that is currently before the courts.

It was noted that the subject of the fake news is currently under legal scrutiny and, as such, is sub judice. Consequently, neither the Governor nor the state-level PDP is in a position to make comments on the matter.

The statement reaffirmed Governor Pastor Umo Eno’s respect for the law, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Bola Tinubu, the PDP, under whose banner Pastor Umo Eno was elected as governor, and the party’s presidential candidate, His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
