Speaking on Friday during an X Space discussion tagged “Weekend Politics,” Amaechi outlined bold plans should he emerge President in 2027, including amending the constitution to replace the concept of indigeneship with citizenship.
“If I become President, I will change the constitution from indigeneship to citizenship. If I cannot end corruption in Nigeria within one month, I will resign,” he vowed.
The former Rivers State governor also threw a challenge to current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, urging him to walk freely along the streets of Port Harcourt to see who is truly healthy and loved by the people.
Amaechi alleged that some powerful figures in the country regularly visit the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to steal money, lamenting that such funds, if invested in security and the economy, could have transformed the nation’s fortunes.
He further described INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, as the worst in the nation’s history, stating, “The worst INEC chairman in the history of Nigeria is Mahmood Yakubu.”
On the issue of fuel subsidy, Amaechi made it clear he would not reverse its removal if elected President, but would instead redirect the savings directly into the pockets of ordinary Nigerians rather than the elite.
