This decision comes in response to the presence of numerous touts (known as Agberos) engaging in various criminal activities, including lawlessness, drug peddling, pickpocketing, robbery, and other illicit behavior.

During an impromptu visit to the area, Governor Soludo issued a stern warning to unemployed youth who were causing disturbances, urging them to enroll in the “one-youth-two-skills” program for empowerment. He emphasized the importance of gainful employment for those residing in Anambra.

The governor outlined strict regulations for motor park administrators, stating that all vehicles must operate within designated garages and refrain from loading on established walkways. He further cautioned that any garage failing to comply with this directive would face closure.

Governor Soludo assured the public that Upper Iweka would no longer serve as a haven for touts and criminals. He also mentioned plans to clean and improve the entire area from Moore Street-Iweka Road through Ochanja to Owerri Road. Petty traders along the road would be relocated to Oduigbo and Ogbaru as part of the cleanup efforts.
