During the protest, women had demanded the transfer of Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aderemi Adeoye, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Chris Folakade.
UBWFAN leader, Hon. Nkiru Nwagbo, leading a delegation from the 21 Local Government Areas to a meeting with CP Adeoye, urged him to disregard the protesters.
Nwagbo explained that UBWFAN’s investigation revealed that the nude protesters were recruited sex workers from outside Anambra State.
Nwagbo stated, “Going by our painstaking investigation, it has been discovered that those women (who protested nude) are not from Anambra State but prostitutes recruited from outside the state and paid to go on protest.
We want to use this opportunity to state that Anambra women are well trained, highly cultured, and well-mannered (and cannot afford) to reduce themselves to this lunacy.”
She commended CP Adeoye, acknowledging the police command’s success in controlling the activities of unknown gunmen and miscreants that previously caused unrest in Awka and other parts of the state.
