APC Chairman Responds To Ighodalo: No Defamation, Apology UnnecessaryThe Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Jarrett Tenebe, has rejected accusations of defaming the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and dismissed any need for an apology.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Tenebe’s comments came after a viral video on December 10, where he accused Ighodalo of corruption and misappropriating state funds following a blunder by Governor Monday Okpebholo during the presentation of the N605 billion budget estimates to the Edo State House of Assembly.

In the video, Tenebe claimed that former Governor Godwin Obaseki and Ighodalo would not have made such a mistake if they had not stolen billions of naira. In response, Ighodalo, through his legal team, demanded an apology and a retraction of the allegations, accusing Tenebe of defaming him by falsely claiming he had stolen public funds.

Ighodalo’s lawyers set a seven-day deadline for the apology, warning that failure to comply would result in legal action.

However, Tenebe, through his lawyer, Blessing Agbomhere, maintained that his remarks were justified and that there was no need for an apology. Agbomhere stated, “We want to make it clear that our client did not defame your client in any way, and as such, there is no need for an apology or retraction of the comments made in the video.”

He further added that if Ighodalo pursued the matter in court, Tenebe would rely on the defence of justification, citing the reports from the Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee and the preliminary findings of the Edo State Asset Verification Committee, both of which allegedly implicated Ighodalo.
