The accusation was made by Paul Ibe, media aide to PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during an interview on Channels TV on Monday. Ibe claimed that the APC and the presidency were manipulating Wike to destroy the PDP and other opposition parties.

In its response, APC’s National Publicity Director, Bala Ibrahim, strongly rejected the allegation, asserting that Wike was not acting on behalf of the APC. Ibrahim challenged the PDP to address its concerns directly with Wike, noting that the minister remains a member of the PDP.

Ibrahim emphasized that the challenges facing the PDP are internal matters, urging the opposition party to look within and stop blaming others. “Wike is not a member of the APC, and he has not claimed that he is doing the bidding of the APC,” Ibrahim said in an interview with Punch. “He has not denied that he is still a member of the PDP. So why are they attributing to Wike something he has not acknowledged himself?”

He continued, “If the PDP has issues with Wike, they should confront him directly and ask him the questions they are asking others. The party should face its challenges instead of shifting blame. Wike is a man of his own, a former governor, lawyer, and now minister. He will align with any party based on mutual interest, not because he is being used by anyone.”

Ibrahim concluded by stating that the PDP’s problems are self-inflicted. “The issue is internal, and they should not be pointing fingers at others. They are the ones having difficulties within their party, not the APC,” he added.
