APC Labels Peter Obi As Nigeria’s Leading Prophet Of Doom, Tinubu Weighs In

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his remarks about the administration of President Bola Tinubu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
During a media chat on Thursday, Obi claimed that Nigeria’s political, economic, and security situation continues to worsen, contradicting the government’s stance. He pointed out that Nigeria, once the largest economy in Africa with a GDP of $574 billion and per capita income of over $3,500 in 2014, has now fallen to fourth place on the continent.
In response, APC’s Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed Obi’s claims as misleading, emphasizing that current indicators show the country is making significant progress. Morka argued that Obi’s statement casts him as Nigeria’s leading “prophet of doom.”
Morka also criticized Obi for presenting himself as a solution to national challenges while failing to leave any notable legacy during his eight years as governor of Anambra State. He suggested that while Nigerians welcomed the new year with hope for a brighter future, Obi was stuck in his negative and repetitive narrative.
Morka further stated that Obi’s persistent pessimism, along with his efforts to incite public discontent against the Tinubu administration, stem from the realization among him and his PDP allies that the President’s reform agenda is rendering their political relevance obsolete.
The APC statement concluded: “Obi’s New Year message, claiming that the country’s situation is worsening daily, is misleading and seems designed to score cheap political points. At a time when key indicators show substantial recovery, this paints Obi as the leading voice of negativity. Despite the early positive results from ongoing reforms, the government remains focused on ensuring these reforms benefit the nation’s growth and transformation.”
