Bala Ibrahim, a Director in the party’s Publicity Directorate, responded to reports of opposition parties considering a merger to challenge Tinubu’s re-election bid, stating that the APC remains undeterred by these coalition talks. He emphasized that the reforms being implemented by the current administration would deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians well before the 2027 polls.
Speaking with Saturday Sun, Ibrahim acknowledged the current difficulties faced by many Nigerians but explained that such challenges were part of the necessary process of reform. “Yes, there is pain in the land, but much of the dissatisfaction comes from those who lost the last election. Their anger has morphed into hunger, which is why they are complaining,” he said. Ibrahim also pointed out that President Tinubu had acknowledged the struggles caused by the reforms.
However, he assured that this “pain” is temporary, comparing it to the discomfort one experiences during periods of significant change. “Ultimately, once the reforms begin to show results, everyone will see the benefits, and the country will be better off,” Ibrahim predicted.
He went on to stress that, should President Tinubu seek a second term, the APC is confident in his victory. “When the time comes for people to start enjoying the fruits of these reforms, Tinubu will secure his second term, and the APC will triumph in the 2027 elections,” Ibrahim concluded.
