Aliyu made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, April 16, 2027.

According to him, there is no ambiguity surrounding Tinubu’s candidacy, and the party is fully behind him.

“In our party, we already have our candidate — the President. There’s absolutely no doubt about it. We are committed to supporting him, by the grace of God,” he said.

On Ministerial Appointment and El-Rufai’s Exit

Aliyu also commented on the recent defection of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, from the APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

He noted that El-Rufai had once been a staunch ally of President Tinubu, especially in the lead-up to the 2023 elections.

Recalling El-Rufai’s instrumental role, Aliyu said the former governor rallied northern governors and fiercely campaigned for Tinubu’s presidency.

“My friend Nasir El-Rufai stood up for Bola Tinubu when he declared interest in running for president. He rallied the northern governors and took a stand. We all followed his lead, and Tinubu emerged victorious. He was promised a ministerial slot, but for reasons best known to the party, it didn’t materialize.”
