The petition contested his victory in the February 25, 2023 Bende Federal Constituency election in Abia State.

As a reminder, the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, located in Umuahia, the state capital, had earlier dismissed the AA’s petition in August.

This occurred because the party’s candidate, Ifeanyi Chukwuka Igbokwe, informed the panel that he had not initiated any legal action against Kalu. He also raised allegations of impersonation.

Subsequently, Igbokwe filed complaints with the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS), seeking the apprehension and prosecution of those who impersonated him. However, no arrests had been made regarding the impersonation.

On Sunday, October 15, Igbokwe emphasized in a press conference that he had not filed an appeal against Kalu’s electoral victory and urged the Police to take action against his impersonators.
