The allegations pertain to his alleged acquisition of a brand new Toyota Camry worth N5.4 million through fraudulent means and involvement in theft back in May 2018.
The Commissioner of Police submitted an application for the bench warrant to ensure Ajayi’s appearance in court to address the allegations. As a result of this application, the court ordered that Ajayi must appear in court or provide a statement by November 24.
Two former aides of Agboola Ajayi, Ogunmusi Samuel and Akintoye Olatunji, have already been arraigned in court regarding the vehicle allegedly acquired from Segun Adetuwo, also known as Showboy.
Samuel claimed that Ajayi instructed him to accompany Olatunji to collect the car but left without making any payment for it.
The prosecutor, Emmanuel Tanimowo, informed the court that Ajayi had not responded to the invitation to present his side of the incident.
Legal counsel Omolegbon Odunsola, representing Akintoye, mentioned his efforts to contact Agboola and Adetuwo to explore the possibility of resolving the matter outside of court.
Alex Olademehin, who represented Adetuwo, noted that Agboola insisted on either providing a written statement to the police or appearing in person before the court.
Presiding Magistrate Taiwo Lebi issued an order requiring Ajayi to either appear in court or provide a statement on the next scheduled date, which is November 24, 2023.
