INEC Extends PVC Collection To LGs After 55,859 CollectedAs the Ondo governorship election approaches, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Tuesday that 55,859 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were collected in the state over a five-day period, representing 62.2% of the 89,777 available PVCs. The collection took place from October 17 to 21, 2024, across all 203 wards in Ondo State. In a statement by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, it was noted that this marks the highest percentage of PVCs collected in such a short timeframe since the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process began in 2015.

ā€œDuring the five-day period, the Commission made PVCs available for collection to new registrants and applicants for transfers or replacements of lost or damaged cards as mandated by law,ā€ the statement said.

INEC also announced that the collection exercise will continue at its 18 Local Government Area (LGA) offices in the state.

The statement continued, ā€œThe collection will resume in our LGA offices from Wednesday, October 23, to Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, including weekends. Detailed information about the locations of our LGA offices can be found on our website. We urge remaining voters to collect their PVCs in person, as no cards will be collected by proxy,ā€ Olumekun emphasized.
