Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri Set For Dortmund Loan Move On Deadline Day

Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri has reportedly agreed to join German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old is expected to travel to Germany to undergo a medical examination after Arsenal and Dortmund reached an agreement over a temporary transfer. The deal reportedly does not include an option for Dortmund to make the move permanent.

According to reports, Dortmund will cover Nwaneri’s salary throughout his loan spell, with the Bundesliga club keen to provide the young midfielder with regular first-team opportunities.

The move comes as Arsenal seek to secure more playing time and valuable senior experience for the England youth international. Nwaneri has found opportunities harder to come by at the Emirates Stadium due to strong competition for places in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Dortmund had reportedly been monitoring the midfielder for some time before stepping up their interest following a long-term knee injury suffered by Giannis Konstantelias.

Nwaneri has already made 51 senior appearances for Arsenal, scoring 10 goals, but he was an unused substitute in the club’s opening league victory over Coventry before being left out of the squad for the 1-0 win against Aston Villa.

The youngster also spent the second half of the previous season on loan at Marseille, where he made nine appearances and scored twice in 322 minutes of action.
