The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a stern warning, declaring its intention to commence a nationwide strike in protest against the absence of governing councils in all federal universities across Nigeria, alongside other unresolved grievances with the government.
Citing the dissolution of university governing councils by the federal government in May of the preceding year, ASUU emphasized the government’s accountability for any repercussions resulting from the union’s forthcoming actions.
Addressing the press at the ASUU national secretariat in Abuja, President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, emphasized the urgency of the situation, with further details expected to emerge as the press conference continues.
