According to Daily Trust, ten bodies were found in Kastina-Ala, while 20 were recovered in the Logo area, bringing the total death toll to 30. Chief Joseph Anawah, a community leader in Logo, described the assault on the Azege settlement and the surrounding areas of Tombo Council Ward, which occurred at around 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Sources say the attackers, estimated to be over 300 armed militia, are believed to have come from outside Nigeria. Anawah noted that the assailants were clearly visible during the morning attack, and despite the presence of security forces, the attackers were too powerful and heavily armed to be repelled. It was only after a military aircraft arrived that the attackers retreated.

Anawah confirmed that over 20 bodies had been recovered, with efforts still underway to locate additional missing persons.

Meanwhile, Justine Shaku, the Council Chairman of Kastina-Ala LGA, reported that further attacks took place in his area early on Monday morning. He stated that heavily armed herders stormed Adabo village and Tse Gwebe settlement in Utange Council Ward, killing an unknown number of people, destroying property, and looting household items.

Shaku emphasized the severity of the situation, pointing out that Benue State is increasingly facing threats from armed bandits, particularly herders. The full extent of the destruction and fatalities is still being compiled.

In Logo LGA, Council Chairman Clement Kav shared similar reports, alleging that the attackers claimed ownership of Tombo land and launched an assault, killing 17 people and injuring 37 others. Kav stated that additional security forces had been mobilized to restore peace, and no further reports of missing persons have emerged.

Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, confirmed the attacks and reported that five bodies had been recovered from the Logo area.

The violence in Benue State continues to raise concerns over the security situation in the region, with both local leaders and residents calling for more effective intervention to prevent further bloodshed
