Atiku Breaks Silence: ‘I Won’t Step Down For Southern Candidate – It’s A Political Delusion

Following the announcement of the coalition, rumors began circulating that Atiku and other northern politicians were under pressure to support a southern candidate.

However, in a strongly worded statement from Atiku’s media office, the claims were categorically denied and labeled as “desperate falsehoods.”

The statement read in part:

“In response to recent inquiries from journalists and concerned citizens about a fictitious meeting where His Excellency Atiku Abubakar allegedly refused to step down for a southern candidate, we categorically state that no such meeting took place.

Atiku Abubakar was not in attendance, and the entire story is a baseless fabrication — pure propaganda churned out by the Tinubu-led APC regime.

It is not just untrue, it is laughably desperate.”

The statement further described the report as a “diversionary tactic” aimed at causing division within the opposition and undermining the momentum generated by the unveiling of the ADC as the opposition’s official platform.

“Let it be clear: No amount of misinformation or shadowy briefings can shake the unity and determination of the opposition. We remain steadfast in our mission to rescue Nigeria from a faltering and directionless administration,” it added.

The statement concluded by urging the public and media to dismiss the so-called reports as baseless, lacking attribution, and without any factual merit.
