Atiku vs Wike: Tensions Explode As Aide Accuses Ex-Governor Of Twisting Facts

Wike, during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, alleged that Atiku betrayed late MKO Abiola. In response, Shaibu described the claim as a shameless distortion of history and declared that “betrayal has never been associated with Atiku – not in the past, not now, not ever.”

Taking to (formerly Twitter), Shaibu reminded Nigerians how Wike “cried, lobbied, and practically begged” to become Atiku’s running mate in 2022 but was turned down due to his volatile temperament and trust issues—not betrayal.

He questioned Wike’s moral authority to talk about loyalty, citing how the former Rivers Governor undermined the PDP, publicly aligned with the APC during the 2023 elections, and sabotaged his own party while still holding a PDP mandate.

Shaibu didn’t hold back:

“This shameless dipsomaniac and serial attention-seeker knows nothing about 1993. Accusing Atiku of betraying Abiola is not only false—it’s a disgraceful revision of history.”

He further accused Wike of mocking the very party that built his political career, insulting its leaders, and breaking ranks with its presidential candidate during a critical moment.

Concluding his fiery response, Shaibu praised Atiku as a stabilizing force and a principled democrat who has always stood by the PDP through storms:

“If 2023 was a test of loyalty, maturity, and consistency—you, Wike, failed woefully. Atiku is no betrayer. The real betrayal is dressing like a patriot after dancing naked in the marketplace of treachery.”
