In his message marking Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day anniversary, Atiku emphasized that this celebration occurs at a critical juncture when the country faces numerous challenges.
He pointed out that 63 years ago, when Nigeria gained its political independence, it did so with the promise of abundant prosperity and the principle of social justice.
Atiku affirmed, “Throughout our history as a nation, we have strived to realize the visions of our founding fathers by upholding the ideals of shared prosperity and social justice.”
The former Vice President highlighted Nigeria’s achievements on the global stage, including the success of its sportspeople, the excellence of its academia, and the global recognition of Nigerian talent in the music industry.
Atiku recognized the determination and resilience of young Nigerians who refuse to give up on the country, seeing them as a source of inspiration for a brighter future.
He acknowledged that Nigeria’s youth possess the formidable potential and skills that drive the global economy.
Atiku underscored the importance of political leadership that befits the nation’s pride, emphasizing that Nigeria’s democracy has thrived because of the belief that it should bring out the best in its citizens.
While acknowledging the hardships faced in the economy, security, and other vital areas of society, Atiku urged Nigerians to have faith and be prepared to work together to navigate the country out of its current state of uncertainty towards a place of collective security.
