During the official inauguration of the university, Bago expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to advancing education in the country. According to a statement from the Governorās Special Adviser on Print Media, Aisha Wakaso, Bago highlighted that upgrading the institution to a federal university would greatly enhance the educational landscape of Niger State and Nigeria as a whole.
āThis university is a beacon of hope, promising to shape the future of our nation by training well-equipped educators who will inspire generations,ā Bago stated. He was represented at the event by Isah Adamu, Special Adviser on Governance and Reform.
Bago continued, āThe upgrade of this institution will significantly impact Niger State and Nigeria. It is not only an academic hub but also a center for intellectual growth, research, and innovation. By focusing on teacher education, we are investing in the future of our communities and the prosperity of Nigeria.ā
Acknowledging the challenges facing Nigeriaās education sector, including inadequate infrastructure and limited resources, Bago expressed optimism that the universityās inauguration marks a crucial step toward overcoming these obstacles. He asserted that it would provide opportunities for quality education and the development of educators who can make a meaningful impact on society.
Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Sununu, reiterated that Tinubuās administration prioritizes education as the foundation for social transformation and development. He acknowledged the global teacher shortage as a major concern and emphasized the governmentās commitment to establishing more institutions focused on teacher training to address gaps created by brain drain. Sununu also encouraged students to utilize the student loan program to support their education, stressing that financial constraints should not hinder their academic pursuits.
